Community-Based ABA Support
Progress that only shows up in the living room is not finished progress.
We practice the skills your child is building in the places that make family life hard — the store, the playground, the waiting room.
How Community-Based ABA Works
Skills That Hold Up Outside the House
A trained therapist goes with you and your child into a real setting and works on specific, planned goals. Sessions are structured, not casual outings: your BCBA chooses the location and target skills based on what your family actually needs, and we track how it went.
What We Work On in the Community
Everyday Outings That Feel Manageable Again
- Waiting: Tolerating lines, delays, and being told "not yet" without escalating.
- Staying close: Safe behavior in open spaces, parking lots, and near traffic.
- Flexibility: Handling unexpected changes and unfamiliar places with less stress.
- Asking for help: Communicating needs to unfamiliar adults and staff.
- Sensory tolerance: Coping with noise, crowds, and busy or bright spaces.
- Caregiver coaching: Strategies you can use on the next outing without us.

How Community-Based ABA Works
Assessment
We learn where your family struggles most: which outings you avoid, what tends to go wrong, and what your child can already handle.
Personalized Plan
Your BCBA selects the target settings and skills, and sets clear goals for each type of outing.
Practice in Real Settings
A trained therapist joins you and your child in the actual environment and runs the plan, with you there.
Progress Monitoring
We review the data, coach caregivers, and adjust the plan as your child tolerates more.
Credentials — Board Certified Behavior Analysts
Your program is designed and overseen by experienced BCBAs. Our team receives ongoing training, background checks, and direct supervision. You will have regular BCBA meetings to review data, celebrate wins, and plan next steps.
Insurance
We work with major commercial insurance plans and verify benefits for you. We currently accept Florida Blue, Private Pay Plans, Humana Military | TRICARE, ComPsych, Magellan Health, Cigna, Step Up For Students, Aetna, and Curative. Not sure what your plan covers? We will check eligibility and out-of-pocket costs and share a clear estimate before you start.
SEE IF YOUR PLAN IS COVERED

Effective Family Support helps families across North Miami and Boca Raton turn everyday outings from something to dread into something ordinary. Community sessions are designed to run alongside your child’s in-home program so skills transfer to where they matter.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is community-based ABA therapy?
ABA sessions that take place in real settings outside the home, such as stores, parks, and waiting rooms. A BCBA selects the location and goals, and a therapist works with your child there while you are present.
Do I need to come along to community sessions?
Yes, and that is intentional. The point is that you leave with strategies you can use on the next outing without a therapist there.
Where do community sessions take place?
Locations are chosen from your family goals. Common ones include grocery stores, playgrounds, restaurants, medical waiting rooms, and family gatherings.
Is this an outing, or is it real therapy?
Sessions are structured and data-driven. The BCBA sets target skills in advance, the therapist runs the plan, and progress is recorded and reviewed like any other session.
Can community sessions replace in-home therapy?
Usually not. Community work is designed to run alongside an in-home program, which is where most foundational skills get built first.
What if my child has a hard time in public?
That is often the reason to start. We begin with short, manageable exposures and build up as your child tolerates more, rather than starting with the hardest setting.
What ages do you work with?
We specialize in early intervention with children ages 2 through 7.
Which areas do you offer community sessions in?
Across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County, with our teams concentrated in North Miami and Boca Raton.
Serving Families In: North Miami, North Miami Beach, Miami Shores, Biscayne Park, Aventura, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, and Delray Beach.
